Easter Seals BC/Yukon hosts accessible summer overnight and family camps at Camp Winfield, 1790 Davidson Road, Lake Country, British Columbia. Programs serve children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. Contact campregistration@eastersealsbcy.ca or 1-800-818-4483 about eligibility and support. The following programs are historical 2026 information.
For ages 6–18, New Camper Weekend was June 20–21. Kids camps ran July 6–10, July 13–17 (Mixed Medical Kids), July 20–24 (Autism Focused Kids) and July 27–31, 2026. Mixed Medical Kids welcomes shared experiences for campers with facial difference, blindness or low vision, and physical disabilities, including eligible campers outside the partner community groups. Autism Focused Kids also welcomes other eligible diagnoses. Additional Canucks Autism Network staff support was described as a possibility, not a guaranteed service. Adult YAC weeks were June 29–July 3 and August 3–7; the dated table gives ages 19–49+. Confirm individual adult eligibility with the registrar.
Family Camp ran August 12–14 or August 14–16, 2026, for families with a child or adult with a disability. Families shared their own private room or brought a tent, with meals included. Limited medical beds had to be requested. Arrival was 3 pm; departure noon–1:30 pm included lunch at 12:30 pm. Families chose from accessible activities, with some scheduled slots. Discuss personal care and accommodation needs before booking.
Winfield facilities and activities include an outdoor swimming pool with accessible waterslide, pool lift, big swing, ropes courses, climbing wall, crafts, basketball, mini-golf and an in-ground trampoline. Individual overnight support is normally one direct-care staff member per three campers. Higher care needs require a family-funded Personal Support Worker: separate application before camper confirmation, minimum age 17, and original criminal record check with vulnerable-sector search. Parents can fill that role only at New Camper Weekend, with an application and criminal record check from the past six months. Family Camp care arrangements should be discussed separately.
The introductory weekend assesses needs and may be combined with a full week. Initial registration otherwise allowed one session; further sessions depended on a later registration round and space. Families whose primary caregivers need a Vancouver Island ferry for dismissal pickup must provide another adult who can collect the camper within two hours. Medical Update Forms are needed if medical information changed and are completed within five days before arrival; Initial Assessment Forms are completed within two days. Bring these to drop-off and follow the confirmation package’s final times. Campers must be free of communicable illness. Phones are prohibited; calming or sleep-support music devices may sometimes be prearranged with the coordinator.
