Sasamat Outdoor Centre hosts summer day, overnight, family and leadership camps at its main lakeside site, 3302 Senkler Road in Belcarra, British Columbia. This listing combines programs based at the centre. The operator’s Belcarra Day Camp has a separate base at the regional park’s ocean picnic shelter and is not the Rovers program described here. Bus stops and extended care at Port Moody Recreation Centre are not the main camp venue. All dates below are historical 2026 programs, not confirmed 2027 dates.
Rovers Day Camp serves ages 6–12, Sasamite Nature Club ages 4–5, Youth Overnight Camp ages 8–12 and Teen Overnight Camp ages 13–14. Each advertises the same nine 2026 weeks: June 29–July 3; July 6–10; July 13–17; July 20–24; July 27–31; August 4–7, the short Tuesday–Friday week; August 10–14; August 17–21; August 24–28. Activities vary by program and include paddling, swimming, archery, climbing, ropes challenges, crafts, games and nature exploration. Participation follows the operator’s challenge-by-choice approach.
Sasamites is a separate 10:30 a.m.–2 p.m. nature club with a one-to-four staff-to-camper ratio. A caregiver must drop off and collect campers at the Sasamite Tent; no camp transport is provided. Bring lunch, snacks and water, without nut products. Readiness guidelines ask whether a child can toilet and eat independently, change mostly independently and function in a closely supervised group without one-to-one supervision. A child within the age range who does not meet a guideline is not automatically excluded: the operator asks families to discuss readiness with the office.
Rovers is based at the main site and has groups of eight with one counsellor. Campers bring a nut-free lunch or may purchase the optional bagged-lunch program. Youth Overnight Camp needs no previous camp experience and groups campers by similar age. Accommodation varies among yurts, cottages and cabins, with staff in the same or adjacent rooms, and occasionally in the cabin next door for the oldest groups. Its two oldest groups have an off-site overnight adventure. Teen Camp has twelve campers with two counsellors; its coed group sleeps in same-gender cabins with staff next door and includes hiking, an overnight tent experience and advanced ropes activities. Bathrooms are in the Main Lodge.
The 2026 Counsellor-in-Training overnight program is for ages 14–15: June 29–July 10; July 13–24; August 4–14, a shorter session; August 17–28. Participants practise leadership, activity facilitation and camper-group management through instruction, feedback and placements. The program includes Emergency First Aid certification, an opportunity for an RCABC canoe certification course and a three-day, two-night canoe camping trip over the weekend. Counsellors sleep in the next cabin; do not assume participants return home between weeks.
2026 summer Family Camp welcomes all ages on July 10–12 and August 7–9, from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Arrival at camp is 7 p.m. Friday and self-transport departure is 3:45 p.m. Sunday. Meals and optional programs are included. Children are supervised during organized program time, with separate family time and evening activities together. Day visitors must be arranged with the office in advance and pay a fee. Accommodation may involve shared space, so confirm household and sleeping-room needs rather than assuming private accommodation. Discuss serious dietary restrictions with the office in advance.
The transportation page gives Rovers self-drop-off as 9:45 a.m. and normal pickup as 3:20 p.m.; optional Thursday dinner and campfire extend camp pickup to 8 p.m., so confirm arrangements if not staying. Youth, Teen and CIT self-transport check-in is 9:45 a.m. on the first day and pickup 3:15 p.m. on the last; follow the exact dates, including Tuesday starts. Buses serve several Lower Mainland stops, with availability varying by program. Optional before and after care is at Port Moody Recreation Centre; it does not apply to Sasamites. Confirm the chosen session’s transport details with camp.
Groups are assigned by age and ordinary friend requests are not considered. For documented medical, mental-health, special-needs or mobility circumstances where a friend is important to participation, management will discuss the situation with the family; an exception is not automatic. Overnight meals are provided, and serious dietary needs should be discussed in advance. Use Any age search for the all-age family program and the exact program eligibility above. Contact the official website for current availability, packing instructions and future schedules.
