Town of Hinton Discovery Camp offered daily summer adventures for ages 5–12 from June 30–August 27, 2026. Regular camp hours were 7:45am–5:30pm. This is historical 2026 information; 2027 summer programmes are not confirmed. Activities included creative and cultural projects, physical and outdoor play, educational themes and Thursday excursions.
The Discovery Camp base was the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Facility, 805 Switzer Drive, Hinton, Alberta. The 2026 manual required arrival by 9am, with the specific room communicated at registration. Caregivers must accompany campers, speak to staff and complete sign-in. The Guild at 821 Switzer Drive is the programme office and school-year care location.
Camp groups are 5–7, 8–9 and 10–12, based on biological age at registration. Moving into an older group requires arrangements with the Childcare Programs Supervisor before registration, an age difference of six months or less, and more than three open spaces in both other groups. Only the Supervisor or Coordinator may schedule these exceptions, or the FCSS Assistant Manager with Supervisor approval; placement is not guaranteed.
Children must be toilet trained, recognize when they need the washroom and use it on their own. Pack a nut-free lunch, water, outdoor clothing and suitable footwear. Discuss allergies, medication and support needs with staff before enrolment and review the current policy manual and daily activity calendar.
