The Writers’ Guild of Alberta hosted WordsWorth, a five-night creative writing residency, on the Red Deer Polytechnic campus in Red Deer, Alberta. The venue is the main campus at 100 Donald Boulevard, with dorm accommodation, campus meals and teaching spaces. The information below describes historical summer 2026; registration is closed, and exact 2027 dates and eligibility are unconfirmed.
Week One ran July 19–24, 2026 for ages 11–14. Week Two ran July 26–31, 2026 for ages 15–19. The older session explicitly included 19-year-olds. Confirm the applicable age measurement date, session placement and current entry requirements directly with the operator.
Artist-led workshops explored writing and storytelling through fiction, poetry, nonfiction, spoken word, music, drama, movement, filmmaking and other creative forms. The programme encouraged screen-free activities, with evening social events, concerts, open microphones, stories, songs and nature walks.
The published arrangements called for Sunday arrival at 3 p.m. for dorm assignment and a Friday family showcase from 3–5 p.m., subject to confirmation in the current camper handbook. Accommodation, meals and scheduled activities were included in registration. Confirm packing, accessibility, dietary and supervision arrangements, required forms, costs, availability and cancellation terms before booking. Bursaries were available through a separate application process.
